Congressman Max Miller, Colleagues urge Blinken not to Coddle to CCP
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Max Miller (OH-07), Rep. Kelly Armstrong (ND-AL), Rep. Claudia Tenney (NY-24), Rep. Ryan Zinke (MT-01), Rep. John Duarte (CA-13), Rep. Michelle Fischbach (MN-07), and Rep. Aaron Bean (FL-04) sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken urging him against coddling the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) should he proceed with a planned trip to China.
After cancelling his first planned trip to China after a CCP spy balloon traversed the U.S., Secretary Blinken is reportedly attempting short sighted diplomatic missions yet again after reports surfaced regarding a CCP spy station located in Cuba.
“We must continue to hold our most dangerous strategic adversary accountable for its actions. A visit with Foreign Minister Qin Gang and possibly President Xi Jinping simply rewards the actions of the CCP and lends validity to a repressive, militaristic regime,” wrote the Representatives. “We rightfully request you continue to communicate clearly and precisely but not give legitimacy to China’s behavior by stepping foot in Beijing, where your visit will be another tool of Communist propaganda.”
“We urge you to continue to express the sentiment that the United States does not seek conflict but will do everything in its power to protect Americans, our interests, freedom, and democracy around the globe. Should you reward the behavior of the CCP by visiting China, we will seek to learn of your exact motives and the conversations that occur. The United States must respond to China’s ongoing and brazen attacks on our nation’s security,” the letter continued.
