WASHINGTON D.C. Congressman Max Miller (OH-7) today announced that several water infrastructure projects important to Northeast Ohio for which he advocated were authorized by the 2024 Water Resources Development Act (WRDA). WRDA passed the House of Representatives on Monday evening by a bipartisan vote of 359 – 13. The bill is now headed to the Senate.

“I’m proud to advocate for tax dollars to come home to Northeast Ohio to fund projects that make our communities stronger,” said Congressman Miller.  “It’s a long road to getting funding, but this is a very big first step in the process. I’ll keep pushing to fund the critical projects our community leaders have identified until we get them across the line.”

Miller worked with local officials to advance eleven projects for consideration, of which nine were included in the bill. The projects focus principally on reducing flood and storm damage, improving navigable channels, and restoring water and wastewater systems, to improve public safety and economic security.

Projects Benefitting OH-07 include:

  • Village of Apple Creek: Flood Control Stormwater Management
  • Village of Brooklyn Heights: Stormwater Outfall Repairs
  • Village of Chagrin Falls: Regional Water and Sewer System Upgrades
  • Port of Cleveland: Cleveland Harbor Eastern Embayment Resilience Strategy (CHEERS)
  • City of Fairview Park: Coe Creek Dredging Project
  • City of North Olmsted: Wastewater Treatment Plant
  • City of Solon: Environmental and Economic Development Initiative
  • City of Westlake: Marshfield Lake Dam
  • Ohio Department of Natural Resources: Little Killbuck Creek Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention
