U.S. Congressman Max Miller’s Statement on Supporting the Stop-Gap Funding Bill which Included the SAVE Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Max Miller (OH-07) made the following statement after voting in support of a stop-gap funding bill which included the SAVE Act. The bill failed to pass by a vote of 202 – 220 – 2.
“I voted in support of this bill because it includes important provisions to secure our nation’s elections by requiring proof of citizenship when registering to vote. This legislation takes major steps to ensure that only Americans vote in American elections. Allowing non-citizens to vote in our elections not only makes our elections less secure but also diminishes the value of American citizenship and the rights and privileges that come with it.
I am disappointed that some of my colleagues voted against such a commonsense proposal to secure our elections.”
