U.S. Congressman Max Miller’s Week in Review

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Below are the highlights of U.S. Congressman Max Miller’s (OH-07) schedule from the week of June 24 along with highlights of his staff’s engagement with constituents. 

MONDAY, June 24 

  • Congressman Miller visited and toured the Ultium Cells Warren Production Facility in Warren, Ohio to learn about the new, state-of-the-art facility that produces battery cells for GM facilities in North America. The 2.8 million-square-foot facility uses the most advanced and efficient battery cell manufacturing process and began cell production in August 2022. Ultium Cells employs 2,000 people in new high-tech jobs and has partnered with Youngstown State University to develop a career and technical education pipeline for these high-skilled positions. The Congressman was shown the facility by President & CEO Kee Eun, VP of Operations Thomas Gallagher, and UAW Local 1112 Shop Chairman Josh Ayers. The Congressman learned about how the Inflation Reduction Act is undermining American advanced manufacturing and giving Chinese battery makers an unfair advantage over American companies. WEDNESDAY, June 26 

  • Congressman Miller participated in a press conference that was organized by Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna regarding her resolution to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in Inherent Contempt of Congress. The Congressman’s remarks can be found here.  
  • Congressman Miller spoke on the House Floor about the alarming situation in Lebanon and the threats posed by the instability of Lebanon’s government and the influence of Hezbollah. The Congressman’s remarks can be found here.  
  • Congressman Miller spoke at the Youngstown – Warren Regional Chamber’s Washington, D.C. Fly-In at the Library of Congress. The crowd was comprised of roughly 60 business, community, and local government leaders from Northeast Ohio. The Congressman addressed the group and took questions on various topics such as workforce development and the appropriations process. FRIDAY, June 28 

  • Congressman Miller voted to pass three appropriations bills: (1) Homeland Security, (2) State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs, and (3) Defense.  

SATURDAY, June 29 

  • Congressman Miller visited the Downtown Wooster Farmer’s Market. The market has been serving the community for 27 years. The Congressman had the opportunity to interact with about 40 vendors and meet with the Executive Director of Main Street Wooster Shannon Waller, Main Street Wooster Program Manager Guinevere Steensen, and Wooster Mayor Bob Reynolds.   • Congressman Miller stopped by the Carpenter’s Cup Coffee Shop in Smithville to grab a cup of coffee and chat with constituents who were visiting the shop. Pictures of the visit are available here.   
  • Congressman Miller met with Smithville Mayor Tom Poulson, who assumed office in 2018. The Congressman also stopped by the Mayor’s business, the Bouquet Shop, in Orrville. 

Congressman Miller’s Team represented him at the following meetings and events: 

  • introductory meeting with representatives from CMS Consulting Services which provides government consulting services for many organizations in Northeast Ohio, 
  • the Governor’s Annual Fishing Day to learn about the work Ohio is doing to protect Lake Erie,  
  • meeting with Wooster Mayor Bob Reynolds and City Manager Joel Montgomery, 
  • meeting with the Aerozone Alliance regarding land use, 
  • The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s 2024 Lake Erie Seasonal Harmful Algal Bloom Forecast, 
  • meeting with a nurse from North Royalton as part of the American Nursing Association’s D.C. fly-in, and 
  • meeting with the Greater Akron Chamber and Polymer Cluster Group. 

Editor’s note regarding Congressman Miller: 

Congressman Max Miller represents Ohio’s Seventh District which includes Medina and Wayne counties as well as parts of Cuyahoga and Holmes counties. Miller serves on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, for which he is also Chairman of the Environment Subcommittee. The Republican freshman members selected Miller as their representative to the Republican Steering Committee.  He is a member of the Republican Study Committee, Main Street Caucus, and the Congressional Jewish Caucus.
