U.S. Congressman Max Miller’s Week in Review

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Below are the highlights of U.S. Congressman Max Miller’s (OH-07) schedule from the week of July 29. 

MONDAY, July 29 

  • Congressman Miller kicked off the district work period at the 179th annual Medina County Fair Opening Ceremony. The event provided an excellent opportunity for the Congressman to hear directly from the community and enjoy tasty food. The Congressman caught up with Ohio State Representatives Sharon Ray and Melanie Miller, Medina County Commissioners Aaron Harrison, Colleen Swedyk, and Steve Hambley, as well as members of the Medina County Fair Board.  A video from the event can be found here

WEDNESDAY, July 31 

  • Congressman Miller toured the Children’s Center of Medina and met with Executive Director Ashley Krause and Director of Development Anna Guy-Leach. The meeting focused on the center’s comprehensive services for child advocacy, family visitation, and anti-human trafficking efforts. Discussion included the challenges posed by the recent decline in Crime Victims Fund (CVF) resources and the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act. Pictures from the visit can be found here

THURSDAY, August 1 

  • Congressman Miller held a call with local media to discuss his first 18 months in Congress and to provide a legislative update. 
  • Congressman Miller met with leaders at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, including President and CEO Sonia Winner. The visit included a tour of the museum’s recent $150 million expansion, showcasing new public spaces and exhibits. Discussions covered the museum’s work in conservation and natural sciences, with a focus on federal support for science and research funding. Pictures from the visit can be found here
  • Congressman Miller visited the Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative (LMRE) to meet with CEO Ed VanHoose. The discussion focused on the cooperative’s legislative priorities, including concerns about the EPA’s proposed “Power Plant” rule and its potential impact on rural energy providers. The visit highlighted LMRE’s $14 million headquarters project and its efforts in innovation and renewable energy. Congressman Miller reaffirmed his support for reliable, affordable power. SATURDAY, August 3 

  • Congressman Miller attended the dedication ceremony for the Upper Ridgewood Basin Improvement project alongside Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter, Parma City Councilwoman Debbie Lime, Parma City Councilman Kevin Kussmaul, State Representative Sean Brennan, and Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District CEO Kyle Dreyfuss-Wells. The event featured a performance by the Parma Area Veterans Color Guard and included a community picnic with food trucks, live music, and local vendors. After the ceremony, attendees had the opportunity to explore the newly dedicated basin area and enjoy the community festivities. Pictures from the event can be found here
  • Congressman Miller attended the Pokrova Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Ukrainian Festival. The event was filled with delicious food, beautiful cultural performances, and great fun. Congressman Miller caught up with Parma Councilman Kevin Kussmaul, United Ukrainian Organizations of Ohio President Dr. George Jaskiw, Pokrova Ukrainian Catholic Church Parish Priest Father Mykhailo Drozdovskyi, Cleveland Maidan Association President and Board Medical Advisor Taras Mahlay, and Cleveland Maidan Association Board Medical Advisor Dr. Natalia Fendrikova Mahley. Congressman Miller’s Team represented him at the following meetings and events: 

  • meeting with the North Olmsted Safety Services Director Jennifer Scofield, 
  • grand re-opening ceremony of Farmers Insurance in Valley City, 
  • briefing with the Consular Affairs Passport Agency, 
  • tour of the Amazon Facility with the Greater Akron Chamber, 
  • meeting with the Greater Cleveland Partnership, and  
  • Medina First Friday Legislators Meeting.

Congressman Max Miller represents Ohio’s Seventh District which includes Medina and Wayne counties as well as parts of Cuyahoga and Holmes counties. Miller serves on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, for which he is also Chairman of the Environment Subcommittee. The Republican freshman members selected Miller as their representative to the Republican Steering Committee.  He is a member of the Republican Study Committee, Main Street Caucus, and the Congressional Jewish Caucus.
