U.S. Congressman Max Miller’s Week in Review
MEDINA, OHIO – Below are the highlights of U.S. Congressman Max Miller’s (OH-07) schedule from the week of August 12.
WEDNESDAY, August 14
- Congressman Miller visited the Sherwin-Williams Research and Development project site in Brecksville to learn more about how it will bring together hundreds of employees, including chemists, engineers, technicians, and support team members to collaborate and innovate. Sherwin-Williams employs about 4,400 people in Northeast Ohio and this site will employ roughly 900. The Congressman met with Sherwin-Williams Senior Vice President for Global Innovation Excellence Diana Strongosky and Sherwin-Williams Director of Government Affairs William Telligman during the visit. - Congressman Miller stopped by the Valor Acres project, a mixed-use development in Brecksville at the site of the former Brecksville Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. The development sits on nearly 200 acres of land and will include the new Sherwin-Williams R&D center, office space, luxury apartments and condominiums, an upscale hotel, retail, and entertainment. Brecksville Mayor Daryl Kingston and Brecksville Director of Planning and Development Monica Bartkiewicz joined Congressman Miller for the visit. Pictures from the visit can be found here.
- Congressman Miller toured the Jennings Independent and Assisted Living campus in Brecksville to see the services they provide to older adults in Northeast Ohio. Jennings was founded in 1942 by the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and provides residences and services, such as assisted living, hospice, home care, rehabilitation, and long-term care, to more than 1,500 adults over the age of 55 of all faiths. THURSDAY, August 15
- Congressman Miller spoke to the Medina County Economic Development Corporation to provide a federal and legislative update to its members. The Congressman discussed the importance of passing a Farm Bill, his American Workforce Act, and the need to extend the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to support families and businesses. Attendees asked the Congressman questions on a range of issues including immigration, energy, and bipartisanship in Washington. Attendees of the event included State Representative Sharon Ray, Medina County Commissioners Steve Hambley and Aaron Harrison, Executive Director of the Medina County Economic Development Corporation Bethany Dentler, and roughly 70 members from the local business community. - Congressman Miller had breakfast with Seven Hills Mayor Tony Biasiotta.
Congressman Miller’s Team represented him at the following meetings and events:
- meeting with Mayor Patrick Sword of Dalton,
- meeting with representatives from the Ohio Aerospace Institute,
- Coffee and Connection event in Orrville,
- opening day event with the Brunswick Schools and the Medina County Economic Development Corporation,
- meeting with Wayne County Commissioners, and
- meeting with the Wayne County Economic Development Council.
