WASHINGTON, D.C.– Below are the highlights of U.S. Congressman Max Miller’s (OH-07) schedule from the week of September 23. 

MONDAY, September 23 

  • Congressman Miller’s bill, H.R. 7685, the Innovative Mitigation Partnerships for Asphalt and Concrete Technologies (IMPACT) Act, passed the House of Representatives unanimously. The IMPACT Act will bolster the competitiveness of American manufacturing by fostering advanced technologies that will enhance the efficiency of cement, concrete, and asphalt production. WENDESDAY, September 25 

  • Congressman Miller’s bill, H.R. 9723, the National Windstorm Impact Reduction Program Reauthorization Act, was passed out of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee by a unanimous vote. This legislation will reauthorize the National Windstorm Impact Reduction Program (NWIRP), which will provide critical funding for continued research aimed at reducing injuries and property damage from windstorms. This includes efforts to enhance building codes, voluntary standards, and construction practices to improve structural resilience. It also directs the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to create a Scientific Windstorm Studies Advisory Committee which will guide the agency’s involvement in NWIRP.   • Congressman Miller voted against H.R. 9747, a continuing resolution to fund the government through December 20, 2024. View the Congressman’s full statement here.

  • meeting with Ohio representatives from the American Network of Community Options and Resources, 
  • meeting with representatives from the Ohio Attorney General’s office, 
  • attended the Heroin Opioid Task Force Meeting, 
  • meeting with Representatives from the American Society of Addiction Medicine, 
  • meeting with Gold Star Families with the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, 
  • meet and greet event with the Tax Advocate Service, 
  • attended the Wadsworth Chamber of Commerce Rosie Awards, 
  • attended the grand opening of the Kent State University Crawford Hall, 
  • attended the open house event for the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center’s 50th Anniversary, 
  • attended the ribbon cutting event for the TA Lodi Technician Training Center, 
  • meeting with the Ohio Ukrainian Community members who were in DC for the Ukraine Action Summit, 
  • meeting with the Ohio Customs Brokers in DC as part of the National Customs Brokers Association meeting, and 
  • meeting with the Cleveland Metroparks.

Congressman Max Miller represents Ohio’s Seventh District which includes Medina and Wayne counties as well as parts of Cuyahoga and Holmes counties. Miller serves on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, for which he is also Chairman of the Environment Subcommittee. The Republican freshman members selected Miller as their representative to the Republican Steering Committee.  He is a member of the Republican Study Committee, Main Street Caucus, and the Congressional Jewish Caucus.
