WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Max Miller (OH-07) introduced a resolution condemning political violence and denouncing the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. The resolution calls for elected officials to condemn the assassination attempt, condemn political violence, and recognize the importance of spirited debate while respectfully showcasing differences of opinion. U.S. Congressman Jared Moskowitz (FL-23) joined the Congressman in introducing the resolution.

“The attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump was a heinous attack,” said Congressman Max Miller. “I’m glad that President Trump is alright, but it is clear that it is time for politicians and talking heads to turn down the temperature in our country. The free exchange of ideas and the right to disagree—even sometimes vigorously—are foundational to the American experiment. I’m glad that Congressman Moskowitz and I can disagree on plenty of issues and still find common ground to agree on this: political violence has no place in America.”

“Violence is not how we settle our differences in America,” said Congressman Jared Moskowitz. “Congress needs to send a clear, bipartisan message that this assassination attempt was abhorrent and an attack on any party’s nominee is an attack on this country.”
