WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Max Miller (OH-07) recognized the entrepreneurial spirit of Melody and Rachel Steiner, known as the Sunbow 57 Girls, in a speech on the House Floor. The sisters are known for selling cotton candy and homemade cookies at farmer’s markets across Northeast Ohio. Melody is using her profits to save up for aviation school. In his remarks, Congressman Miller emphasized the growing demand for pilots and aviation professionals and the critical role of Career and Technical Education in addressing workforce shortages.

Congressman Miller’s full remarks are below:

I rise to recognize Melody and Rachel Steiner, the Sunbow 57 Girls, who sell cotton candy and homemade cookies at farmer’s markets across northeast Ohio and across our district.

I met Melody at the Downtown Wooster Farmers Market, where she is using her business proceeds to save up for aviation school.

One of my biggest priorities in Congress has been Career and Technical Education, I know how badly we need more pilots and aviation workers.

I am proud to have young leaders in my district pursuing their dreams and securing the future of the American workforce.

Small businesses are the foundation of our economy as over 99% of United States businesses are small businesses. Whether you run a cotton candy stand or a local factory, the United States is rightfully called the land of opportunity and the American Dream is alive and well.

I am grateful for the hard work, ingenuity, and dedication of entrepreneurs like Melody and Rachel in Northeast Ohio that make our communities great places to live.
