U.S. Congressman Max Miller’s Week in Review
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Below are the highlights of U.S. Congressman Max Miller’s (OH-07) schedule from the week of July 1.
MONDAY, July 1
- Congressman Miller met with Lodi Mayor Rob Geissman. The Mayor, who has been in office since 2012, took Congressman Miller on a driving tour of Lodi that included a new playground and bridge at Lodi Community Park, both of which were funded by Community Development Block Grants. The Village of Lodi was established in 1812 and was the first settlement in Medina County.
- Congressman Miller visited TravelCenters of America’s Lodi Travel Center. Founded in 1972, TravelCenters is the largest publicly traded full-service truck stop and travel center in the United States. Headquartered in Westlake, TravelCenters has 18 facilities and employs over 2,000 people in Ohio. The Congressman toured the facility and visited with TravelCenters employees and customers. Congressman Miller was joined by TravelCenters of America’s CEO Debi Boffa, TravelCenters of America’s Senior Vice President of Operations Rodney Bresnahan, TravelCenters of America’s Lodi Center General Manager, and BP America’s Senior Federal Government Affairs Manager Andrew Vlasaty. TUESDAY, July 2
- Congressman Miller stopped by the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio (GSNEO) STEM Center of Excellence project in Peninsula. The STEM Center of Excellence will be an 8,000 square foot facility funded by federal, state, and private dollars that will include 3D printers, classroom space, an observatory, and more in efforts to increase interest in STEM subjects. This center is scheduled to open in 2024. GSNEO Grants Manager Jay Gardner and GSNEO Chief Operating Officer, Emily Fein, as well as GSNEO STEM Center Advisory Committee Member Betsy Engels, joined the Congressman on the tour of the facility. GSNEO, which covers Cuyahoga and Medina counties, has been active in Northeast Ohio since 1912 and currently has about 18,000 members. Pictures can be found here.
- Congressman Miller visited Brunswick Hills Township and met with Township Trustees Ryan Nixon and Trica Murphy, Police Chief Tim Sopkovich, Fire Chief Anthony Strazzo, and Service Department Foreman Cory Schultz. The Congressman stopped by the township’s two fire stations, police station, service garage, and Council Chamber to see firsthand the concerns the township has with the current facilities. He also saw the plot of land purchased by Brunswick Hills and learned about their plans to build a new township building that will include all township departments under one roof.
