U.S. Congressman Max Miller’s Week in Review
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Below are the highlights of U.S. Congressman Max Miller’s (OH-07) schedule from the week of August 5.
MONDAY, August 5
- Congressman Miller kicked off the week by spending time with members of the Amish community in both Wayne and Holmes Counties. The Congressman made three stops during his visit, the first being at Flextur, a small business in Wayne County which manufactures workstation systems such as welding tables, tool boards, work benches, and pack stations. Afterward, he stopped by Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen in Mount Hope which is a locally owned restaurant in Holmes County that has been a favorite of locals and visitors since 1994. To wrap up the day, the Congressman visited Behalt, the Amish and Mennonite information center in Holmes County, to learn more about these incredible communities. The Congressman was joined by the Director of the Ohio Amish Steering Committee Wayne Wengerd. There is an estimated Amish population of 9,000 in Wayne County and 37,770 in Holmes County, which is the second largest settlement of Amish in the world behind Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. - Congressman Miller stopped by the Holmes County Fair during its opening day. The event provided an excellent opportunity for the Congressman to hear directly from constituents. He was also able to catch up with Holmes County Commissioner David Hall during the visit and present a Congressional Commendation to the Holmes County Fair Board. TUESDAY, August 6
- Congressman Miller visited and toured the New Albany Transmission and Operation Center and the Vessell Substation facility of American Electric Power (AEP), one of America’s largest electric utility companies. AEP employs nearly 16,000 people and operates more than 40,000 miles of transmission lines. They provide power to 5.6 million people in 11 states. Congressman Miller was joined by Congressman Bob Latta (OH-05), Congressman Troy Balderson (OH-12), and Congressman Mike Carey (OH-15). The visit was co-hosted by American Clean Power. WEDNESDAY, August 7
- Congressman Miller participated in a roundtable with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank to discuss the impact of food insecurity and federal nutrition programs, with a particular focus on education, health, workforce and economic outcomes, and the unique impact that hunger has on seniors and children. The Greater Cleveland Foodbank has over 1,000 agency partners and provides food assistance to families and individuals residing in several communities within OH-07. In Fiscal Year 2023, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank served over 400,000 households and distributed 51.9 million pounds of food. FRIDAY, August 9
- Congressman Miller stopped by Rocky River High School with Mayor Pam Bobst. Rocky River High School has become a major staging point for line crews and utility workers who have come in from around the state and country to help restore power to the area. Mayor Bobst and Congressman Miller met with and thanked the crews who are working tirelessly to get the power back on after the major storms and tornados that left hundreds of thousands of constituents throughout the district without power on Tuesday. SATURDAY, August 10
- Congressman Miller attended the Cuyahoga County Fair.

- meeting with Westfield Township Trustees, and
- meeting with representatives from the Cuyahoga County Executive’s Office.
