U.S. Congressman Max Miller’s Week in Review

MEDINA, OHIO – Below are the highlights of U.S. Congressman Max Miller’s (OH-07) schedule from the week of August 19.

MONDAY, August 19 

  • Congressman Miller met with Apple Creek Mayor Rodney Mackey to receive an update about flooding in the village caused by recent storms. To alleviate future flooding, the Congressman advocated and secured authorization for $350,000 in water and wastewater infrastructure, including stormwater management, for Apple Creek through the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA). The Congressman will continue to advocate for the funding in this bill as it continues through the appropriations process.  

TUESDAY, August 20 

  • Congressman Miller participated in a manufacturing roundtable with local businesses and the National Association of Manufacturers at PLIDCO in Strongsville. The Congressman provided a brief update on his work in Congress and highlighted the importance of manufacturing to our economy. Attendees of the roundtable included the National Association of Manufacturers Director of National Affairs Tim Gould, PLIDCO President Kim Smith, Cleveland Steel Tool President Mark Dawson, Eagle Elastomer President Regan McHale, Buckeye Seal Solutions President Justin Abramovich, Manufacturing Works President and Executive Director Adam Artman, and others. After the roundtable, the Congressman had the opportunity to tour PLIDCO which manufactures pipeline leak and repair maintenance fittings for customers worldwide. PLIDCO was founded in 1949 and employs roughly 1,000 people in its Strongsville plant. Pictures from the event can be found here.  
  • Congressman Miller attended the Cleveland Browns training camp in Berea. The theme for this practice was Military Appreciation. In 2024, the Browns announced their plans to build a $200 million mixed-use development around their Berea training facility. The Congressman joined Cleveland Browns Owner Jimmy Haslam, Executive Vice President JW Johnson, Chief Operating Officer David Jenkins, and Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel Ted Tywang for the practice. 
  • Congressman Miller stopped by the Discount Drug Mart Store and Pharmacy located in Parma. The Congressman visited the store as a follow-up to his visit to the Discount Drug Mart Headquarters located in Medina last year. Discount Drug Mart’s Director of Government Affairs Steve Ferris, Pharmacist Supervisor Bill Martin, and Pharmacist Jackson Gilbride met with the Congressman to discuss issues related to the pharmacy industry, including potential PBM reforms and provider status for pharmacists. Discount Drug Mart is one of the largest employers in the district and employs over 4,700 people throughout the state. Pictures from the Congressman’s visit can be found here

WEDNESDAY, August 21 

  • Congressman Miller visited the site of the City of Solon’s Diverging Diamond Project. This project will make a busy and dangerous area safer for drivers and help improve the flow of traffic. With the help of local leaders, the Congressman has advocated for funding for this project, and many others, through the FY25 community project funding process to bring Ohio tax dollars back home for projects Northeast Ohio communities need for improved safety and quality of life.   • Congressman Miller joined a Solon Chamber of Commerce luncheon to give an update on his work in Congress and answer questions. The discussion centered around the need for expanded workforce development opportunities and the importance of local industry to the success of the economy in Northeast Ohio. Attendees of the meeting included City of Solon Mayor Edward Kraus, City of Solon Director of Economic Development Angee Shaker, City of Solon Chief of Police Rick Tonelli, Solon Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Marilyn McMillin, and other members of the Solon Chamber of Commerce. THURSDAY, August 22 

  • Congressman Miller joined Parker Novak of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) on a panel with Lieutenant General John G. Castellaw, USMC (Ret), and Ambassador Kelley Currie to discuss the critical role that American diplomacy, development, and defense play in the world both in times of peace and crisis. Approximately 50 community, business, and political leaders from Northeast Ohio attended and participated in the conversation. Pictures from the event can be found here

Congressman Miller’s Team represented him at the following meetings and events: 

  • roundtable update for congressional staff with the Cleveland Veterans Administration,  
  • a Legislative Mixer with the Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association,  
  • meeting with Wadsworth Township Trustees, 
  • meeting with the Northeast Ohio Four County Regional Planning and Development Organization, and 
  • a Business at the Barn event with the Northern Medina County Chamber Alliance.

Congressman Max Miller represents Ohio’s Seventh District which includes Medina and Wayne counties as well as parts of Cuyahoga and Holmes counties. Miller serves on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, for which he is also Chairman of the Environment Subcommittee. The Republican freshman members selected Miller as their representative to the Republican Steering Committee.  He is a member of the Republican Study Committee, Main Street Caucus, and the Congressional Jewish Caucus.
