U.S. Congressman Max Miller Hosts Agriculture Advisory Council Meeting with Special Guest Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson

WASHINGTON, D.C.U.S. Congressman Max Miller (OH-07) hosted a meeting with his Agriculture Advisory Council and was joined by special guest House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson. Congressman Miller and Chairman Thompson gave an update on the reauthorization of the Farm Bill and discussed other issues before the House Agriculture Committee. 

Congressman Miller gave a brief update on his work on behalf of Ohio agriculture. He highlighted a recent hearing with Tom Vilsack, the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, where Miller raised concerns that were shared with him by his Agriculture Advisory Council. Congressman Miller also underscored the importance of agriculture trade to Ohio’s rural economies and highlighted a recent letter that he led calling on the Administration to take action to bolster our trade agenda. Lastly, Congressman Miller gave an update on his Farm to Fly Act, which he introduced to expand markets for Ohio farmers and strengthen American energy resources. 

“The Agriculture Advisory Council has been invaluable as we work together to address the wide range of challenges and opportunities facing Northeast farmers and livestock producers,” said Congressman Miller. “Chairman Thompson’s leadership on the House Agriculture Committee has been instrumental, and it was a privilege to have him meet with my Agriculture Advisory Council.” 

Chairman Thompson spoke with the Council about the House Agriculture Committee’s efforts to reauthorize the Farm Bill including key Committee priorities, the path forward, and challenges with passing the Farm Bill into law. The Chairman also shared valuable insights on related trade and regulatory issues impacting American agriculture.
